Over the past 25 years Limnos has provided consulting services in the environmental, regulatory compliance, capacity development and business development sectors. Our approach ensures the needs and priorities of our clients inform the strategy we implement to ensure goals are met. Limnos has worked extensively with a range of clients with a particular focus on ensuring Indigenous perspectives are fulsomely documented and framed to inform project requirements. Our Crown and proponent clients are able to identify potential Indigenous issues and work proactively to address concerns, avoiding project delays or cancellations.
Our approach identifies and defines Indigenous prioritized valued components and ensures that these can be considered within western knowledge and regulatory frameworks. Our structured dialogue tool promotes equivalency between Indigenous and western knowledge approaches and has allowed proponents, regulators and the Crown to best understand and mitigate impacts to Indigenous rights.
Regulatory uncertainty has been a consistent issue in major project development over the past decade. Our approach ensures regulatory requirements are met without diminishing the need to quantify and mitigate impacts to Indigenous Nations, leading to improved certainty and timeliness for proposed and operating developments.
Limnos prioritizes approaches that work to create Nation expertise in our service areas. Core areas of service include training in Indigenous-focused environmental monitoring, environmental assessment, regulatory compliance and integration of AI. We also identify funding opportunities and work with Nations to complete applications, reporting and execution of Nation driven projects.
Limnos has successfully identified and assisted Indigenous clients in securing business opportunities. Our approach assesses the goals of the Nation and ensure that economic and stewardship goals are realized by building effective partnerships with proponents and the Crown.
Utilizing our model of developing Nation-based capacity in our commercial solutions, we maintain partnerships with other experts and organizations that can be accessed for any specific project scope. Our core team is comprised only of subject matter experts with senior experience in applicable projects. Our management team is as follow:
Scott Barnes received his Ph.D. in Earth Systems Science from the Department of Geography at Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario in 2003. After completing Post-Doctoral work, he entered the environmental consulting field in 2005 and obtained a professional agrologist designation (P.Ag.). Since 2005, he has focused on the core service sectors of Limnos and has worked with diverse clients across Canada.
